8/10/2007: UNESCO provides information on German cultural industries(Published by Catherine Daraspe)
With a gross value added amounting to 58 billion EUR in 2004 cultural and creative industries have become a significant economic factor for Germany – and Europe. They have also been gaining importance on the political agenda. During the German EC-presidency the German UNESCO Commission has put out a publication on the evolution and standing of German cultural and creative industries. The publication was funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conducted by Michael Söndermann, Chairman of the German Council for Cultural Statistics in Bonn, and Bernd Fesel, Head of the Office for Cultural Policies and Industries in Bonn.

The publication "Culture and Creative Industries in Germany" is in English and can be downloaded from the German UNESCO Commission’s website.
The Commission also ordered a study on Cultural industries within German cultural policies abroad ("Kulturwirtschaft in der Auslandsförderung von Kultur"). This one is in German and can also be downloaded from the website.
