7/26/2007: Eleven Asian countries launch common cultural website(Published by Catherine Daraspe)
During this year’s Asian Cultural Co-operation Forum (ACCF), which took place in Hong Kong from July 22nd to 25th, a new internet platform was launched: The ArtSIA Calendar will allow to publish and exchange up-do-date information on artistic and cultural activities and events in 11 Asian countries: China, Hong Kong, Macao, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The website was developed and will be maintained by the Hong Kong Home Affairs Bureau, who already initiated the creation of the ACCF in 2003. Then and today the aim is to promote regional co-operation and exchange and to strengthen the arts, culture and the creative industries. The internet portal represents another step forward. Not only the eleven partner countries but the rest of the world too will benefit from this facilitated access to clustered information on cultural organisations and events in Asia. Among other effects, the organisers hope to boost the cultural tourism in the region.
